Childhood Obesity
What is childhood obesity? Childhood obesity is a "growing epidemic in the United States. It affects more than 18 percent of children, making it the most common chronic disease of childhood. This number has more than tripled since 1980." (OAC, n.d).

This is a health issue that is going on in the U.S. that cannot be disregarded and has to be given more attention. The risks of childhood obesity cannot be overlooked because children who are considered obese are 70% more likely to still be affected throughout their life. It is very important to encourage healthy eating and exercise at a young and early age because it can significantly help and benefit them a long way. Starting early can be extremely crucial in preventing childhood obesity. Childhood obesity poses great risks for serious medical conditions such as heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and cancer.
